SimHerd expands to goats and sheep – new project launches SimGoat and SimSheep

It’s true: SimHerd is taking part in a new innovation project focused on the development of SimGoat and SimSheep: decision-support tools tailored for goat and sheep farming.

The project enables farmers with goats and sheep to simulate the effects of management changes and gain insight into both the economic and climate-related consequences of their decisions—just like dairy cattle producers are doing today.

The project is carried out in close collaboration with Dutch farmers, the Dutch Sheep and Goat Breeders Association (Nederlandse Schapen- en Geitenfokkers Organisatie), and the Goat Improvement Company. It is co-funded by the European Innovation Partnership (EIP) – an EU initiative for agricultural innovation.

The first farmers will begin testing it in their herds during 2026.
