They are a nationwide non-profit organization that provides genetic evaluations, milk recording, and advisory services to dairy farmers across Canada.

During the collaboration, the SimHerd model will be adapted to Canadian production conditions – including the milk quota system that regulates dairy production in the country. At the same time, SimHerd will be updated with the latest research on methane emissions from dairy herds – an area where Canada is particularly advanced.

Lactanet will also use SimHerd in a research project aimed at advising farmers on the most effective strategies to reduce methane emissions and improve profitability. The project includes a total of 60 farms, 14 of which have installed “sniffers” in milking robots to directly measure methane.

The final outcome of the project will be a decision-support tool that all agricultural advisors in Canada can use. The tool is based on the SimHerd model but will be simplified and specifically adapted to Canadian conditions.

The goal is that from 2026, advisors and farmers – from British Columbia to Quebec – will be able to use the tool to link their herd goals directly to both economic outcomes and climate impact.

We are very proud and excited to support Canadian dairy production!

[19

post-5595","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news
["GET
